Xativa Circuit and Christmas Market, Kings Day Holiday
6 Jan 09.30 Estacion del Norte
Sold Out / Agotado
Start the new year with one of our favourite group traditions: the 17 km Xàtiva Circuit Hike. After last year’s cancellation due to the Valencia floods, we’re excited to bring it back for 2026—and it’s the perfect way to walk off the Christmas indulgences and kick off the year with fresh air, nature, and good company.
We’ll meet at Estación del Norte for a relaxed coffee before catching the train to Xàtiva (just under an hour). Once we arrive, we head straight into the hike.
What to Expect
This beautiful 17 km circular route offers a little bit of everything:
- A Roman viaduct
- A fascinating cave
- Two impressive ruined fincas
- Stunning views over Xàtiva Castle and the old city walls
The route is classed as medium difficulty, with one short steep climb of around 150 m and a gentle ascent toward the end. (Note: we won’t be entering the castle on this trip.)
We finish back in the heart of Xàtiva, just in time to enjoy its festive atmosphere. The town is famous for having the largest nativity scene in the Valencian Community, and Kings Day marks the final day of the Christmas market—perfect for sampling local artisan food and drink after the hike.
Trains back to Valencia run frequently, so there’s no stress about timings.

Holiday Walk: Discover Olocau & an Ancient Iberian Hillfort
Thursday 22nd January – Valencia Public Holiday
Make the most of the holiday with a beautiful walk on a route the group has never explored before 🌿
Just 45 minutes from Valencia, we begin in the charming village of Olocau, where we’ll enjoy a relaxed morning coffee before setting off.
Our walk is a 6 km circular route with around 200 metres of gentle ascent, suitable for regular walkers. The trail takes us through wonderfully varied scenery: rich Mediterranean flora and fauna, impressive cacti, traditional olive groves, and along a scenic sandstone ravine ridge with lovely open views.
The highlight of the route is Puntal dels Llops, a fascinating Iberian hillfort that once formed part of the Edetan territory. Occupied for over 200 years, it was eventually destroyed during the Punic Wars, making it older than Roman Spain and a truly special place to visit.
We expect to finish the walk by around 14:00, after which those who wish can join us for lunch at the much-loved local restaurant L’Arquet. This is a very popular spot, especially at weekends, and attracts diners from towns all around the area.
